Techitos

A crafted architectural composition that transforms a utilitarian typology into an expressive spatial environment.

Techitos Warehouses & Offices is an industrial architecture project that synthesizes the identity and operations of its occupant through form, material, and spatial experience. Located within a vehicular maneuvering yard in Pifo, the building is both a functional complex for cheese production and storage and a crafted architectural composition that transforms a utilitarian typology into an expressive spatial environment.

The facility’s silhouette is defined by a series of gabled roofs of varying scale, clad in a sinuous skin of black aluminum. This curvilinear metal envelope unifies the ensemble while allowing dramatic geometries to emerge at sharp edges and transitions, giving the building a strong contemporary presence that resonates with the rugged Andean landscape.

Within the largest warehouse lies the temperature-controlled storage for cheese — a space insulated with internal polyurethane panels to maintain precise climatic conditions and protect the product from external heat. The interior organization prioritizes robustness and efficiency, while the architectural expression remains precise and refined despite its industrial program.

The office areas occupy smaller adjacent warehouse volumes, where vaulted ceilings and loft-like interiors create an unexpected contrast to the heavy industrial context. Expansive window walls capture views of the valley and introduce abundant daylight, activating the workspace with an atmosphere that feels both contemplative and contemporary. Sculptural lighting fixtures reinforce this interior experience, inhabiting space as three-dimensional objects rather than mere fittings.

A central courtyard with a tree anchors the composition internally, offering a quiet place for pause and reflection within the utilitarian site — a gesture that elevates everyday work environments to spatially rich moments of rest.

Techitos is an architectural exploration of how industrial performance and design innovation can coexist. It reimagines a conventional program as a compelling spatial narrative that balances geometric precision, functional clarity, and contextual resonance.
