Felipe Escudero Founding Principal

Felipe Escudero is an Ecuadorian–Brazilian architect, designer, and artist whose work moves fluidly between buildings, interiors, and sculptural objects—often blurring the line between inhabitable space and art. Based between Quito and Madrid, he leads Studio Felipe Escudero (EFE), a practice known for translating clear architectural ideas into environments with a strong emotional character.

After completing a master’s degree at the Architectural Association in London, Escudero worked internationally across Beijing, London, and New York —contributing to complex projects at MAD Architects and Heatherwick Studio— before establishing his own studio.

His built work in Ecuador has become emblematic of a contemporary, “poetic modernist” sensibility rooted in material clarity and spatial experience. Projects include Casa Magnolia, a private residence organized around a central courtyard and a magnolia tree as an emotional anchor; Biocepario, a laboratory-like research space dedicated to bio-seeding and high-tech cultivation; and Foresta, a 60-seat restaurant developed in dialogue with chef Rodrigo Pacheco’s biodiversity mission, balancing raw volcanic presence with refined sculptural detailing.

His studio has been included in Wallpaper’s Architects’ Directory* highlighting emerging practices worldwide, and his work has been profiled by international publications including Architectural Digest, Forbes, and Interior Design.
