Near Life
The collection reimagines everyday objects as sculptural artifacts that resonate with the organic intelligence of nature.
Near Life is a functional object collection conceived under the creative umbrella of OBIO and designed by Felipe Escudero. Rooted in an exploration of life as form and memory, the collection reimagines everyday objects as sculptural artifacts that resonate with the organic intelligence of nature.
Drawing inspiration from the living world — its growth, erosion, fossilization, and the unseen rhythms that shape natural evolution — each piece exists at the threshold between the familiar and the surreal. Objects are articulated with bulbous, biomorphic geometries that suggest fossils from the future — forms that feel both ancient and forward-looking, as though organic logic has been translated through the lens of advanced fabrication and material innovation.
The Near Life collection is defined by an aesthetic that speaks to continuity: surfaces bloom into curves, volumes swell with life-like presence, and voids carry an expressive tension that balances form and function. Through a deliberate pairing of craft and digital technology, OBIO creates pieces that are as poetic as they are practical — seating, tables, and vessels that perform utilitarian roles, yet occupy space as emotional artifacts.
Far from ornamental, each object is conceived as an active participant in daily life — inviting touch, interaction, and reflection. Near Life transforms the way we relate to objects, proposing that functional design can be as alive, expressive, and evocative as the world it references.
